William Lyon Homes is constructing Blossom Grove at The Foothills, the first neighborhood to be built in the first new master-planned community in San Diego County since 2006. Priced from the low $600,000s, four uniquely styled floor plans will showcase indoor/outdoor living and will range from approximately 1,992 to 2,840 square feet, with three to five bedrooms, two to three bathrooms and two-car garages, as well as two-car garages plus storage. Blossom Grove at The Foothills will balance familiar Carlsbad surroundings with recreational benefits. Encompassing 157 acres, nearly half of the Foothills’ property has been designated as permanent open space. There are also plans for a 13.5-acre City of Carlsbad community park, which will include a lighted multi-field soccer complex.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named the recipients of its 2009 LEED for Homes Awards, “recognizing housing projects and homebuilders who have demonstrated leadership in the residential building marketplace.” Two of the winners represent the West. Pulte Homes was honored with the Outstanding Production Builder Award for its Villa Trieste project, located in Las Vegas. Villa Trieste is planned to be a community of 185 LEED Platinum single-family homes, which will place it firmly among the ranks of the largest LEED for Homes project to date. Pulte’s commitment to LEED Platinum certification for all homes in its Las Vegas division sets an example for excellence for builders and project teams across the country. In the Outstanding Multifamily Project category, Wakeland Housing & Development Corporation’s Platinum certified Los Vecinos project in Chula Vista, CA, was selected for its outstanding performance within the LEED for Homes rating system. The affordable housing project consists of 42 apartment units rented to families earning 60 percent or less of the area median income. With 90 percent of its energy generated onsite, the property is on average 39 percent more energy efficient than comparable properties following California energy-efficiency standards.

Costa Pacific Homes recently announced that its latest community, Villebois, located in Wilsonville, OR, is a silver award winner in nine categories at this year’s National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) The Nationals Awards. They include The Nationals top award, Community of the Year, along with Best Product Design of an Attached Home Plan for two homes, Best Interior Merchandising of a Model Priced under $500,000, as well as several awards for both Internet and print marketing.
